Ideas:
Ideas: -A group of friends debating which flavour of Coca Cola is better. -A couple are out in town, throughout the advert the boyfriend is trying to propose to his girlfriend. In the end, he presents the ring on a Coca Cola bottle. -Because Coco Cola is a popular choice to make an advert, thinking about changing the product to a Fanta bottle.
Comparing adverts:
The advert about chewing gum shows the audience when they first met she offered him chewing gum and their memories have all included chewing gum. Even when they fight they gave each other chewing gum and everything was fine, towards the end various memories of theirs are drawn on chewing gum wrappers which are really thoughtful and at the end he proposes to her with a chewing gum wrapper at the end. Chewing gum is shown throughout the advert.
The advert about coca cola shows a coca cola van going through the streets to light them up and how everyone waits for coca cola and how it's promoted around Christmas time. The only change to the advert is they now have coke zero. The advert is very cringe as it has uses the same concept as previous adverts.

Weekly blogs:
Week-19/11/18 What have you been working on? I have been working on planning and filming the advert. I have been deciding on what product or company to advertise, and working as a team so deciding together and splitting up each task so that we both work on separate things.
What has been useful/effective? First, we decided weather we wanted to advertise a company or product and we decided to advertise Coca Cola as it's promoted especially around Christmas time. I also think it's been useful to work in pairs as we can split up the tasks so that one person isn't doing all the work, whereas working on your own you are left to do all the research and planning on your own.
What has not been effective? How will you improve? What was not effective was deciding on locations to shoot the advert, the whether wasn't the best as it rained most days and was windy which wasn't effective as it didn't add to the romantic concept of the advert. We wished to film in a shopping centre and park but we couldn't decide on either Reading or High Wycombe.
Have you completed all you tasks for the week? List the ones which you still need to get done. I have completed most of the tasks this week, there's still a few things I need to do. The tasks I still need to complete are: Script Storyboards Slogan Crew list What are your priorities/targets for next week? My priorities for next week are getting confirmation from the actors I have asked to be in our advert. And finishing off the script, story boards, and coming up with a good slogan. We have decided to film in High Wycombe.
Week-26/11/18 What have you been working on? This week we have been focussing on filming everything for the advert.
What has been useful/effective? What has been useful is that the park is only a 5 min walk from the shopping centre.
What has not been effective? How will you improve? What has not been effective is that on the day of filming the actors called up and informed us that they had a fight and weren't able to do the advert anymore. We spent the whole day contacting other couples we knew asking them to be in our advert. Another problem that occurred was that the security told us to stop filming in the town centre so we weren't able to get much b-roll filmed. Next time we know to double check if we can in certain areas and have back up actors incase out original actors withdraw.
Have you completed all you tasks for the week? List the ones which you still need to get done. Thankfully Olivia's sister and her boyfriend agreed to be in our advert so I just need to change the location, crew list and script.
What are your priorities/targets for next week? My priorities for next week are to change the script, location and crew list for the new actors. And also edit the advert in time for the deadline.
Week-3/12/18 What have you been working on? This week I have been working on editing my advert and changing the script, location and crew list.
What has been useful/effective? What has been useful is the new actors are older which make the advert more believable.
What has not been effective? How will you improve? What has not been effective is making the 10 second advert as it is harder to promote the product with limited words and clips to fit the 10 seconds.
Have you completed all you tasks for the week? List the ones which you still need to get done. Yes all tasks have been completed, I just need to upload them to my website.
Evaluation:
Colours: The colours that we have used in this advert attract people to watch it as we have bright and colourful colours that are eye-catching. The colour red usually symbolises danger but in our advert it symbolises love, the coca-cola can is red which is used a lot around the Christmas time and valentines day. The colour red is used in the advert for coca-cola and coke is associated with red, which is the reason we have used red in our advert as it was used in the original coca-cola advert. Images: The imagery used in our advert is based around romance and love which signifies being together especially around Christmas time. We have used a couple which was based around he extra chewing gum advert, when ever they had an argument or disagreement they'd forget about all their issues and have chewing gum. Towards the end of the advert they use chewing gum wrappers to draw all their memories from when they first met to now, at the of the proposes to her. We have adapt our advert that the couple would always be happy when they shared a can of coke together and we used that in the way he proposes to her, he takes the tab from the coca-cola can and puts it in front of the ring which adds humour to the advert. Locations: The locations we have used in our advert are based around their house and their car, we have used this as they are everyday locations and as coca-cola is a everyday product and we wanted the product to fit in with their lives as everyday products are used a lot in their lives. Makeup, costumes and props: The costumes used in our advert are normal everyday clothes to add to the everyday lifestyle/product. The props used in our advert was the coca-cola can as that was what we were advertising. Language: The language used in our advert is simple so that it is easy to understand, we have also used positive language that helps sell the product to the audience. Slogan: The slogan we have created and used in our advert is 'Enjoy the taste of happiness', we have created this slogan to advertise the product as whilst drinking coca-cola you feel that you are drinking happiness so why not 'enjoy' that. Our advert uses inspiration from the coca-cola advert and extra chewing gum as it has a couple that share a love with what is being advertised, in our advert the couple share a love with coke which is also humorously used to propose as well. The guy takes the tab off the coke can and puts it in front of the ring box which makes her laugh and the audience as well, they then share a can off coke on the sofa which advertises that coca-cola is not only an everyday product but it is also used for special occasions. In our advert we have used a few techniques in which we have researched before. One of the techniques we have included is pathos, as adverts with emotion in it connects with the audience. Transfer is also used as the coke can in every scenes have to help promote the product. The advert is basically the boy struggling to find the perfect opportunity to propose to her and can't seem to find the best moment. He finally finds the best moment whilst opening a can of coke to take the tab off the can and put it in front of the ring box which adds humour to the advert. This also makes the product look positive in the audiences eyes. The advert also uses plain folk as it may not understand that the couple are living together but we understand that they are which shows the aspect of love. This also makes the audience sympathise with the boyfriend struggling to find the perfect moment to ask her to marry him, and how nervous it is for boys to propose. The feedback we gathered from others in our class, was mainly positive saying they enjoyed the story and found it funny and that the music went well with the story. To improve people suggested that we change the scene on the beat of the music and to work more on the camera and lighting aspect in our advert. My advert uses both the adverts that I researched in the way it uses the romantic side of how he proposes to his girlfriend with chewing gum, and uses the Coca cola advert in the way it brings everyone together. The emotional appeal of my advert gives the reader the effect of happiness as it associates Coca cola with happiness and good memories. My advert appeals to the target audience we used an older couple which makes the advert more realistic which works well with the purpose and branding of the advert. The locations used in the advert add to the purpose of promoting Coca cola as the advert was shot in their house which makes it more personal to them and gives the viewers more of a warm vibe with Christmas decorations everywhere and having two teddy bears that represent themselves in their house. The slogan "Enjoy the taste of happiness" gives the effect to the viewers that by having Coca cola you enjoy the taste of happiness with whoever you share the Coca cola with. The target audience for the advert would be adults as they can relate to proposing and the struggles of commitment. After showing our advert to our class here was the feedback we were given. Production values: 8/10 Use of sound: 10/10 Emotional appeal: 6/10 Mise-en-scene: 8/10 Slogan: 6/10 Actors/voice overs: 7/10 The improvements our class gave us were change scenes to the beat of the music, lighting, reflection of filmer in the mirror and make parts of out focus. The comments our class also gave were they found it interesting, loved the idea, good music, good idea, found the acting funny and overall was a good story.
