Talk 1: Turbett & Crew production company (22/11 - 11.30am) This talk is COMPULSORY and you will need to write notes and upload to your website. Under NO circumstances do you miss this talk.
Sue Turbett has over 20 years experience as a producer and journalist and will discuss her career at teh BBC and setting her her own production company
You will need to research her and her company and come to the talk with questions to ask her about her career and how she got into it
I found this talk very interesting as she talked about what you needed to get a job. Sue first started off as a PA then worked her way up to being a director. To get a job you need to focus on your core and natural aptitude, think of your career path, think of every job like a 'lesson' which you constantly evaluate what you've learnt to improve yourself. Check your social media sites as anything can be on the internet, and one thing can stop you from getting a job, google yourself. Learn how to drive as it helps a lot getting to interviews as well as jobs if you can drive to your job it's a lot quicker. Be enthusiastic, tenacious and resilient in everything you do. The media industry is all about networking, meeting new people, also using social media to network as social media is used for everything nowadays. It's always to do your research before any interview as you could be asked something, and always come with a few questions, even just asking 'how you could improve'.
